GRP Cabinets and Housings

GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) cabinets offer a robust and reliable storage solution for a wide range of applications. Although the terms GRP cabinet and enclosure are often used interchangeably, a GRP cabinet is typically smaller than an enclosure. These durable units are widely used across various industries, including rail, highways, telecommunications, utilities, and energy. They provide strong, lightweight, and weather-resistant storage and protection for critical equipment and components, especially in outdoor or harsh environments. Unlike metal cabinets, GRP does not rust or deteriorate over time, ensuring a longer lifespan and reducing maintenance costs.

Applications for GRP Cabinets

Overall, GRP cabinets provide a reliable, low-maintenance, and cost-effective solution for protecting sensitive equipment in challenging environments. Their long-term durability, resistance to environmental factors, and customisability make them an increasingly popular choice across multiple sectors.

  • Electrical Enclosures: GRP cabinets are often used to house electrical components and control systems, providing protection against environmental factors. Their non-conductive properties offer added safety when housing electrical equipment such as power terminals minimising the risk of electrical hazards.
  • Telecommunications Equipment: GRP cabinets can be used to protect antennas, routers, and other data comms equipment.
  • Rail Signalling : PADs approved non-conductive insulated cabinets are designed with BS6399: part 2 for wind and snow loads and BS476: part 7 class 1 ratings and IP54 protection.
  • Industrial Storage: GRP cabinets are ideal for storing tools, equipment, and supplies in industrial settings.

Key Benefits of GRP Cabinets:

  • Durability: GRP cabinets are highly resistant to corrosion, impact, and UV radiation, making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.
  • Weather Resistance: GRP is impervious to moisture, ensuring that your stored items remain protected from the elements.
  • Corrosion Resistance: The non-porous nature of GRP prevents corrosion, making it a suitable choice for applications involving chemicals or corrosive substances.
  • Lightweight: GRP cabinets are significantly lighter than traditional metal cabinets, making them easier to transport and install.
  • Low Maintenance: GRP is a low-maintenance material that requires minimal upkeep, reducing operational costs.
